Amazing Masterchefs and Ambassadors
School life in the US

Congrats !
Nous avons également adopté une mascotte... Roger...
Today we are in Washington DC, we must visit the national mall and memorial park. We are obligated to visit the National museum of African American history and culture, and see the Lincoln memorial, the Washington monument, the White House and the U.S capitol. After we have to choose a museum and a memorial.
At the memorial I spoke with a Vietamian’s war veteran. he gave me a sheet of paper with lots of serviceman, and he showed me where the memorial is located. He talked to me about his history, and asked me where I live.
Today, we took the bus around 8am and arrived around 11am in Washington DC.
We had a precise route to answer a questionnaire on museums or memorials to visit.
we started with the White House, even though we arrived on wrong side.
Then we went to Lincoln's memorial. We took pictures and thought about Martin Luther king's discourt and his famous “I have a Dream”.
We also took a picture of the Monument for the questionnaire.
After that we moved to the African American Museum. This place was very well developed and make you want to be visited. However, it was sad to see the segregation that was very present in the past.
Even if the museum did not talk about it: there was the jazz culture and the sport in which celebrities of color could represent their country.
We continued going to the capitol. It is a very beautiful monument but we didn’t go inside. The name and shape of the mall was reminiscent of the Capitol of Hunger games.
Before leaving we had to visit another museum and for that we chose the space museum. A museum that showed the first planes used, the first costumes of astronots, ect ...
It was very interesting!
We left around 17h and arrived at 20h. Some correspondents had a prize-giving ceremony for having participated in the life of the school.
Another day at Strath Haven High School

Aujourd’hui débutent les « class presentations ». Les élèves ont travaillé en groupe sur plusieurs thèmes afin de les exposer en anglais dans les cours de Strath Haven : Breton history and culture, School and teenage life in France, French politics and government, The common past of France and the US, and Famous French painters. Everyone is ready!
Eh eh eh...
The 2 teachers have prepared the Big Washington Scavenger Hunt!
Part #1 - Places you must visit. - We want 5 proofs uploaded on the dedicated album: HERE
We made 6 presentations about school and teenage life in France
It was cool to share our life at school with American students because it is not the same life, it was very interesting !
This afternoon I bought my last gifts for my family, I took a lot of American food !!!
It was a normal American school day , fun and interesting !!!
Today, we have been at the ninty fifties burger and after, we have been at the eric's house and i won at "baby foot" against Caroline. At the high school, we did presentations in 5 differents classrooms, we had a numeric drawing class. We do presentations with amelie mael ewen lorianne and estelle. All americans thank us for that, they where happy. In one classroom, there was a student who can't ear.
At the eric's house we play ping pong.
Today, we had to do our presentation on different classes. Me and my group had to present the French art, so we did our presentation in the art class. Before we did our first presentation, I was a little stressed. But for the other presentations it was more simple because we knew our text better.
I found the art class very nice and pretty. The walls were painted with a lot of colours. There were a lot of different drawings and paintings done by differents students. The two teachers of art that we saw were very kind.
At the end of the day, we went to Charlotte's house. I really enjoyed because we watched movies at the same time that we ate pizza and we curved pumpkins.
NEW YORK NEW YORK
Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Trump Tower, Central Park. Temps libre à Times Square... Whaou !!!!
This day of visiting New York was superb! We started with a very moving memorial site, full of memories: 9/11 Commemoration, Twin Towers site that has been renovated into a beautiful place to look at. It was so moving.
The rest of the day was filled with curiosity, the desire to discover the great squares of New York such as the Statue of Liberty - a very beautiful gift from France to the United States -, Times Square and its large screens and also Central Park! We also saw the Wall Street Stock Exchange with the statue of George Washington, the one of the little girl facing the stock exchange and again the one of the bull!
We had the chance to walk in the most famous avenues: Broadway, 5th avenue... beautiful places but so busy!
This day was incredible, finally we could see all the places we often talk about, that we see on TV, in movies... we were there!
A day of discovering places full of history that will give us plenty of history to tell!
Today we went to New York city. I was directly impressed by the buildings rising everywhere, we couldn't even feel the wind ! Also our attention was capted by everything, there was big screens diffusing adds; persons in costumes; waves of people, lights and sounds : the all city was moving. We first saw the memorials of the twins tower, I was touched by the sound of the water falling while I was reading the names of the victims, it made the moment melancholic and unreal. When we took the ferry, there was so much tourists that I hardly saw the Statue of Liberty...but I finally found a space and saw it in the middle of the shining water, an incredible image. Then we walked into the city and we discovered an ice ring in the middle of a place, like do you wanna do something for the environment? Just go ice skating in the middle of October in a hot day! At the end of the day, during the free time at Time Square, there was so many shops that we couldn't just choose one! Finally when we lived I found Time Square absolutely beautiful because of all the lights, colors, glowing in the dark sky. It was an incredible experience that I will remain for a lifetime.
American Dream weekend
This week-and was particularly fun.
On Saturday morning, I went in a pottery studio with my correspondent; she had to finish a tea-pot lid.
It was so satisfying!
After, the afternoon we went in Linvilla, it's a big farm with a market, corn mazes, animals...
I tasted for the first time donut apple cider, it was so delicious !
The evening, we had a Halloween party.
We made pumpkin with our correspondent; it was a good moment and it was so funny and amusing!!
Also, there was a race of eating donuts. The goal was to be the first to finish his donut but we had to eat the donut without hands; the donuts was hanging on a wire.
It was very cool and very funny !
We laughed a lot !
This Saturday I went to chinatown in Philadelphia it is a district where is there many chinese , thai , vietnamese and korean stores and restorants
So we went to a ice cream shop called « teassert bar » and we ate a rolled ice cream
And after we went to many differents shops like Asian crafts and some chinese shops with astrological sign objects, it was really interesting to see all of those differents culture mixed in one district.
This weekend, we went to the garden party to pick apples, it was a nice day, it was fun to pick apples and for going to pick apple we had to took tractor, it was cool.
In the same day, we had a Halloween party. This party was amazing and funny, we carved in pumpkins, we made games for example there is a game where we had to eat a donut hanging by a thread and we had to not make it fall, of course we had our hands in the back, if the donut fall we had to replay all the game. We had past a fabulous party. Of course we still had a lot to eat at this party.
The next day, we had to go in one of the biggest mall for made shop and we eat again.
During this weekend I was able to better understand the American life and see that the Americans eat everything at any time. I think american’s life is very cool but it’s not make for me because they don’t have hours for eat and they eat a lot of food with too much sugar or very fatty food.
This weekend, we went to Linvilla, which is a place where we can do a lot of things. We can buy pumpkins and Halloween decorations, gather apples in trees, children can play with and feed the animals. There are also many pumpkins curved.
We gathered and ate apples. It was very funny. For lunch, we ate a "butterfly chips", which was chips with cheese. The food was very good. A band played music at the same time that we ate. I really liked the place.
After, we went to the Halloween party. I really liked when we curved our pumpkin. Me and my exchange student did the face of Jake Skellington in the disney movie "nightmare before Christmas".
During my weekend I went with Emma, her friend and family to the ice hockey game. The match was in Philly, in the Wells Fargo Center - next to the Eagles stadium - and it was the Flyers, the Philly team against Dallas.
It's really impressive when you go into the stadium with the music on, the cheerleaders, the big screens and the crowd who was screaming "fly or die!" ... you don't see that in France and that's too bad.
What surprised me the most was the atmosphere of the stadium, everything is much bigger! I was also surprised because in ice hockey players are allowed to fight: they are not separated by others! Two players fought and the crowd supported, it's surprising when you don't know this rule.
The game is very powerful, fast and very technical... it would be nice to develop it in France! I loved living this moment with people who know the rules and who were behind their team, we are caught in a rhythm, we live the moment with them! That's great, perfect!
Today we are sunday. 20 th of october and I've been one day in Philadelphia with my correspondant and one of her sisters. We woke up like every morning and took the train we almost missed . Arrived in Phili we saw the big buildings typical of the United States. We walked in the city, we gone in shops and then we ate in reading market where I tryed a local speciality; a cheese steak with cheese fries. That was filling but very good. After a few hours in Phili we came back home with an Uber and saw a part of the city in car. It was a beautiful day in Philadelphia that I'll never forget.
On Saturday night we did a Halloween party with all other students. It was funny, we were disguise, Maggie was in cheetah and me in monkey
On Sunday I ate my breakfast with maggie’s grand-parents in restaurant.
In the afternoon we went with all student of this exchange at the mall, it is the biggest mall of America. It was AMAZING!!
On Sunday night I did crepes for my family, I learned at Maggie to do it. They love that.
Saturday, I woke up at 9am. At 10am, I went to get Jade because her correspondent left in other city, and then we watched Harry potter.
At 11.30 pm, we left to Linvilla to see the halloween pumpkins. We went to pick apples in the deer. After that, we ate chips with cheese.
After lunch, we bought pumpkins in a garden center for the cuttings.
the halloween party was planned in the house of my correspondent, so we prepared this one.
during the evening everyone was disguised (especially with cat or teddy bear ears).
we cut up the pumpkins, eat, play games. It was very good party.
Then we went to bed.
The next day we woke up at 10am, we watched a cooking show as the best patissier in France. My correspondent suggested me to go out to Philadelphia with her friends, to the Philadelphia Mall, the second biggest of America. We have to look at the shop and then eat a burger.
we went home and had a Greek salad.
This weekend was quite busy. We do a lot of things.
This Weekend was quite busy.
On Saturday, my exchanging student's brother had a soccer game. It was his first match since 3 weeks, because he was injured.
On Sunday morning I was at a protestant mass. The pastor was really kind and he told us that he had just become grandfather. He talked about God calling us and at a moment, a phone rang, so the pastor said : "Take the call, it's God calling you!". Then, on evening, we went to the hospital, because a baby was born on 7 pm ! She is a girl and she is so cute (I only saw her in picture, because we were allowed to see her about 12 pm, and I was asleep). My exchanging student was happy to not be the only girl in the family anymore.
We did some activities and party with a big part of the students.
My favorite parts were Linvilla, a big pumpkin market, it was so cool !!! And the biggest American mall, The King of Prussia mall was so huge, I've never seen that before, I was so impressed.
This weekend, we have been to Linvilla for take apples. After that, we have been at the corn maze, it was funny ! We tasted apple cider and apple cider donut. After that we seen pheasant and ducks.
Sunday afternoon, we went with my american exchange's family to a soccer game. It was an official game, between Philadelphia and New York. Philadelphia won, so it was very fine !! Everyone was happy, it was pretty cool !!
Saturday, October 19th
In the morning we had a sleep but in the early afternoon we went to Lumvilla, a place full of pumpkins. There was also a large lot with apple trees where you could pick apples to buy them later. They were delicious!
In the evening, there was a party at Amy's house, Lily's corres. We cut up pumpkins to make lanterns, mine looked like Harry Potter, she had the same scar.
Sunday, October 20th
With Elena and her family we went to the Benjamin Franklin Museum. It was a very large building with all kinds of exhibitions with different themes; human bodies, trains ...
We also went to see a movie about the creation of the volcanoes and their operation, it was very interesting and even if the film was in English I could easily understand through the video.
In the evening we went to eat in a typical restaurant but it was very big whereas, in France, the restaurants are rather small.
On Sunday morning we went with simon’s family to a restaurant for ate a very big breakfast. I ate eggs with patatoes, pancakes and saucisses.
TGIF... Thank God It's Friday, October 18. Middle School Activity.
Today, we had our first sport class in America. Our teatcher was Mr.Woolery and we baseball with our feet in the big gym inside the school, then Mr.Woolery brought us to a small room in black and white with neon lights to do it dance and dodgeball, a sport well known in this high school.
During the week, we noticed that the sport is very developed in American high schools, much more than in France. There are a lot of proposed sports like American football, soccer, volleyball and even field hockey. The school organizes almost every evening a match on the field od high school and there is a real competition between the different high schools.
I’m gonna prestent you my friday!
I woke up at 6:30 AM and I preparded my self. We left home at 7:30 AM.
I followed Marie in all her classe during the morning. We ate our lunch in thé cafétéria. Marie bring her lunch box everyday.
During the afternoon,Malo, Paul , Ewen and I did two présentation in the middle school. It was very fun and we learnd to the children «j’effectue le dab »...
At the evening the football team of the school had a Game. Enven if we losed, the show was incredible! The Band played very well and there was some Fireworks!
My favorite part of the weekend was the Halloween party.
We did a big party with everyone it was awsome. Everyone wore a costum and it was so nice. I thinck that I had the best costume: I was dressed up in Eiffel Toure!Marie and me curved a beautiful pumpkin.
At the end of the party I talked a lot with the other American about our difference of culture, it was very interesting.
Yesterday night, as a part of the French exchange we went to a haunted house. it’s an event in America that people go to when it’s Halloween. it is very scary because people are dressed up and follow you around. there are different parts like the hayride, trail, and house run from the people in the trail, it was fun but a little scary. It was a good atmosphere. At the end thanks to our correspondant we try some American food, it was tasty!
Wednesday, October 16.
Destination : Philadelphie, Eagles Stadium.
FLY EAGLE FLY! GO EAGLES!
LEADERSHIP - INTEGRITY - PASSION - UNITY - COLLABORATION - PROGRESSIVE - PRECISION - COMMUNITY - TRUST - RESPECT
We went to Philadelphia Eagles Satdium, so we saw loges, the field, the press rooms...
Then, we took subway to go to liberty bell and independence hall. After, we went to a mall to do shopping during around 2hours. At night, we went to a mexican restaurant, that was yummy ! After dinner, we went to a voleyball game in the hightschool.
Attention ! Grand Quiz Philly !
Tuesday, October 15
Big first day au lycée Strath Haven.
